Founded by three Norwegian shipping companies in 1969 as Royal Caribbean Cruise
Line, this company is one of two affiliates of Royal Caribbean Cruises, the second-largest cruise
operator in the world. The line's first newbuild, Song of Norway, entered service in 1970, and
today, RCI operates a fleet of modern super- and megaliners including the
largest passenger ship afloat, the Freedom of the Seas.
Royal Caribbean's signature Viking Crown Lounge is a familiar sight in almost all
parts of the world, and the company has a strong presence not only in the Caribbean, but also in
Europe, Alaska, and other "exotic" destinations.
The company's Voyager class and Radiance class ships
are in a league all their own and as a result, Royal Caribbean consistently wins
honors as the best mass-market cruise line. The new Freedom class ships will be
the largest cruise ships ever. Here are the
different classes of Royal Caribbean's fleet and here
are some articles that have been written about Royal Caribbean. Finally,
here are the MEGA Reviews on this site for Royal
Caribbean by ship.

Ships
|
Freedom Class
RCI's new Freedom class
ships are the largest ships in the world. They promise to also be the most
unique. Not only will it sport the ice skating rink, rock wall, interior
promenade mall and a three story dining room, RCI is promising completely
unique and "over the top" features yet to be disclosed.
Freedom of the Seas |
Voyager Class
Until the QM2, RCI's
Voyager class ships were the largest in the world. While they are huge at
142,000 tons, they cruise like much smaller ships. These are the very best
choice for families.

Radiance Class
The Radiance class ships
combine the best of the best from all of the other classes of ships in
RCI's fleet. Amazing woodwork, ceiling treatments and overall design make
the Radiance class ships in a world of their own.

set a whole new standard for leisure cruise ships. Even today, the
Sovereign class ships offer wonderful family vacations and unique
experiences such as the rock climbing wall.

Empress of the Seas
Originally built as the
Nordic Empress and launched in 1990. she underwent a complete
