In general this 10 day cruise was excellant. Water activities in Bora Bora
and Moorea were not to be missed. Specifically introductory scuba, helmet
dive, and Motu BBQ on Moorea.
On the down side, the ship's chefs seemed to have problems cooking fish. I
complained to the head chef about overcooking the fish. Travel experience
through Papeete airport returning home was a nightmare!
I sent the following to the Ministry of tourism and Air Tahiti Nui:
I would formally like to register a complaint regarding our recent flight
experience flying Air Tahiti Nui at the Papeete airport. We had a 10PM
flight on flight 102 to LAX on Dec. 23, 2004.
We had just completed a wonderful 10 day cruise on the Tahitian Princess,
where security on an off the ship was a regular practice. Your islands
offer wonderful tourism opportunities, but flying to your country is not
worth it.
It took us a full 3 hours to board your airplane with no less than 4
security checks along the way. I believe the security checks were
excessive and bordered on harassment. I have flown all over the world, and
nowhere have I experienced such incompetence and inefficiency in security
checking. Passports were shuffled and returned to wrong individuals.
Passengers were wand searched with every pass through checkpoints. Most of
the passengers were senior citizens and lines prevented use of bathroom
facilities which were difficult if not impossible to find.
After this experience, I will make it a point to avoid flying to Tahiti
again and find somewhere else in paradise to vacation.
