Great cruise! We booked cabin c-103 (Caribbean deck) and were delighted to find
out that our balcony was a good size (10 x 10 I'd say) If you book your
Caribbean deck cabins forward C 100 through C104, there are no balconies above
you, so these are pretty private and a perfect size. (half covered, half open)
The best part of our cruise!
My husband and I are fortunate, and never get motion sickness, and yes, the
first 2 days the ship rocked a bit, we did hear other people mention that it was
bothering them.
We arrived at Port Everglades at 11:20am, there was a line outside (about 100
people), as the doors didn't open till around 11:35. However, we did our
pre-booking on line, and were in our cabin by 11:50. The lines moved quickly
once the doors opened.
I love the way that Princess has made the closet space off to the side of the
bathroom. This space allows you to get dressed in a spacious area. I will admit
that the shower is the smallest one that I've ever been in....don't drop your
soap, or shampoo! Ha!
The room size was comfortable with plenty of storage space.
Entertainment was terrific. The Broadway show was well done, the comedian very
funny, and the singer/trumpet player from down-under, was exceptional.
Food: will rate this 1-10 (10 being excellant)
Horizon Court: 6
Main Dining rooms: 8
Coffee: 2
(I had read previous reviews about the coffee and brought my own! You can
purchase a plastic Melitta coffee filter holder and buy size 2 filters...these
fit well in your suitcase, along with your favorite coffee! It only takes a
moment to brew your favorite brand, as they have the Hot Water up at the coffee
bar!)
I still don't understand why Princess hasn't taken these reviews seriously, and
make a better coffee!
Service:
Excellent!
Our room steward Hector was a perfect steward! He knew our first names
immediately and always had a warm smile with his hello's. Our room was always
clean and whatever we asked for was there the next time he came by.
The restaurants also had excellent service with a smile. We never had a problem,
and had personal choice dining. I'd like to mention that we never waited more
than 5 minutes to be seated. 2 times we asked for a table for 2, and were seated
within 5 minutes.
We ate at both Sterlings and Sabottini's.
The service was excellent at both places, but just want to mention that
Sabottini's really do a wonderful job serving the many courses.
The pools:
It's great having the choice of 4 pools.
The pool in the forward part of the ship is great because very few people either
don't know about it, or just don't like going forward. (maybe it was just the
week we were on, but very few people used this one)
The aft pool is also nice, allowing adults only.
Then there's the covered pool (nicely air conditioned), and next to the Horizon
Court.
The Itinerary
Princess Cays: this is a great stop, beautiful, and relaxing!
Montego Bay!
Very uncomfortable atmosphere here. I don't know why Princess stops there.
We missed Grand Cayman because of an incredible rain storm that washed out roads
in Montego Bay, causing 200 Princess cruise people to be stranded for over 8
hours on buses w/no bathrooms! I know Princess can't help the weather and felt
very bad for those 200 people!
I was disappointed that we were only given a $12. credit towards the missed
port!
Cozumel: This is a favorite of ours, with great snorkeling and beautiful
beaches.
Lots of different things to do here too.
Disembarkation: SAD, but well organized. We were off the ship by 9:am and
have no complaints about this.
My favorite part was the deck. I enjoyed every sunrise and sunset that came our
way, along with breakfast out there too. This was a great week, with only a few
things to complain about. I would return to Princess (we've cruised on Celebrity
(the BEST), RCI, and the Grand Princess)
Hope this helps someone out there!
Happy Cruising!
