Itinerary: Southern Caribbean
I went with my husband on a 7-day Caribbean Cruise to celebrate our third
anniversary. We basically selected the Sea Princess because of its itinerary,
which included Venezuela and Aruba--two places that we really wanted to visit.
Due to the political instability in Venezuela, the cruise line decided to skip
Venezuela, and instead of stopping at a different island (there are only 20 more
to choose from), they gave us a day at sea. We did not even get a credit for
that.
The rooms were pretty small, but did not care much because we thought we
wouldn't spend much time there. We were so wrong. It was very difficult to find
a good show or something fun to do at night. The shows were mediocre, the disco
was always empty and the ambiance at the Wheelhouse Bar was almost like being in
a nursing home. We ended up going to see a movie (twice), watching movies in our
room, and going to bed early. We are both Latinos, and the music and shows
geared to us just suck! They had a Latin night up on deck and it was miserable.
My husband and I won the meringue contest and we had to claim our prizes to a
member of the senior staff because we were promised they would be delivered
to the room, and it didn't happen.
On the positive side, the food was quite good, the pizza is excellent, and the
prices at the shops were not too high. (With the exception of the hair salon,
where I paid $45 for a blow dry and I have short hair)
Overall, we had a less than ok time, would never recommend it and most
definitely would never sail on it again.
