We had a great time on the Grand Princess
cruise. The ship was incredible; it’s not uncommon to see guests wandering
around between floors with a lost look on their face. The upside is you don’t
care; it’s another opportunity to check out more of this huge ship. The buffet
was good and open when we were hungry (midnight supper). The crew did a
wonderful job of always being there to take your plate away or bring you a
drink. The crew took obvious pleasure in their job (who wouldn’t!!) And the
diversity of countries represented onboard the ships’ crews were impressive.
We went to all the shows, which started around 7 pm, and got out in time for us
to choice which formal dining room we wanted to select that night. The
nightclub, which is up on the highest point of the ship or the 18th floor, has
remarkable views. I was surprised to see some of the crew and officers socialize
the nightclub, which was great. We felt very comfortable to approach the crew
and tell them how wonderful the shows were and they actually seemed a little
excited to hear our comments. So please if you like the shows or appreciate a
job well done….tell them, I think its very much appreciated. Besides it gives
you a chance to admire these beautiful people up close and personal.
The ports were not all we hoped for, they were a little commercialized and the
bargains were not really bargains but pricey little trinkets for memories to
share with those back home who didn’t go with us. There are some good deals to
be had on Cozumel in jewelry. Elizabeth the port lecturer was very helpful and
assisted us to procure a nice 1 ct. diamond anniversary ring for moi. We checked
in Costa Maya first and although prices were good, Cozumel was much better for
same product. Just remember to not take up the shops offer of mixed drinks (take
my word), try a bottle of beer instead.
In summary, we had a great first time on a cruise ship and look forward to going
again, hopefully soon. Next time I think we’ll bring the kids who are 7 & 9 and
would have plenty to do with their Kids Adventure program and not be bored with
the adults just lounging by the poolside enjoying some refreshments. The
snorkeling was well worth the trip (rent your equipment on board ship, best
deal) and endless food, service, activities and general sense of R E L A X I N G
was excellent. Don’t miss the Grand Princess cruise; we’d do it again in a
moment.
Congratulations to Claire on her engagement (so he makes her HAPPY and laugh and
smile who needs more than that? ) We’re going on 18+ yrs now and this trip
brought back the laughs and smiles to us too), thanks for sharing with everyone
on ship; it was personal and a nice ending to the trip.
