My wife and two daughters (13, 10) recently returned from this week-long cruise.
Overall, it was an excellent experience, and we had no complaints about any
aspect of it. Here are some thoughts about the voyage:
Ship / Entertainment -- We took a Disney cruise about 2 years ago, and
their boat was a little newer than the Grand Princess. So comparing them was a
little bit of a let down, but overall, the appearance and functionality of the
Grand Princess and our rooms were very good. One point in favor of the Grand
Princess was that due to its larger size, we felt that the quality of the
entertainment for adults was better on the Grand Princess than Disney. This was
a pleasant surprise.
Food -- excellent, all the way around. We did anytime dining, and settled
in at Michealangelo's after a couple of days with the same wait staff. The staff
of the boat was completely excellent all the way around; they were very friendly
and acccomodating.
Ports -- I did not care for Belize much due to its impoverished
conditions but the other ports were quite good/fun. It was spring break week so
there were a lot of people from other boats there that made things hectic at
times (not a big deal). Recommended are Sting Ray City at the Caymans,
snorkeling on Cozumel, and the Mayan Ruins at Costa Maya. Embarkation and
disembarkation were not a problem at all.
About the only thing that could have been better is something that noone can
control, which is that the weather was not good (overcast) the first two days
and the last, but that did not prevent us from having a great time. Overall, we
would rate this cruise a 8.5 out of ten, and would not hesitate to take a
Princess cruise again. If you have any questions about it, feel free to contact
me.
