This was our first cruise with Princess; the 3 others being with RCCL and
unfortunately we found Princess to be inferior to RCCL. Our Stateroom was
located on Aloha deck, the deck just below the pool/band/etc. On the first
night we discovered we were directly below the band and dance floor, which
we heard until midnight. The bed was very bumpy and uncomfortable
(although our Steward found an egg crate mattress which did help)and we
were once again awoken by loud bangs from above (the crew setting up
chairs around the pool). I would not recommend getting a stateroom on the
deck directly below the pool and activities for this reason. We found the
ship clean and nicely decorated, with the majority of the staff to be
helpful and friendly. (We didn't find the staff as interactive and "fun"
as we did on RCCL.) We did like the fact that Princess stopped at 5
different Ports during the trip and enjoyed various excursions. (We booked
all on our own and found approximately $20 savings each time from what
ship charged.)
As far as food goes we were rather disappointed; especially with the
buffet. Really liked the pizza and hamburger cafes; frustrated that you
had to pay for an ice cream cone! Dining room meals varied; some were very
good, others only fair. Toward the end of the week it seemed that the menu
choices were pretty poor. The other 3 couples at our table all agreed and
often sent food back. Missed having a Gala Midnight Buffet....!!!!
All in all we did have a good time, but definitely would go RCCL not
Princess.
