Crown Princess

Originally planned for Sitmar Cruises that was taken over by Princess in 1988, Crown Princess became the company's first superliner in 1990. Featuring the largest standard cabins in the cruise industry, Crown Princess left the Princess fleet in early 2002 for German sister company Seetours.

A revolutionary new ship design launched a new era of sea-going innovation when the Crown Princess was introduced in 1990, giving Princess one of the most uniquely-designed vessels in the cruise industry.

The sleek, curved exterior profile of the five-star ship was created by renowned architect Renzo Piano, one of the top designers in his field and probably best known for his daring design of Paris' Pompidou Center. According to Piano, whose work combines a relationship with nature and the latest in architectural technology, he created the lines of the ship to resemble a dolphin moving through the water.
