Originally built in 1952 as a C4 freighter for the U.S. Maritime Commission, this ship was rebuilt as a cruise ship for the now defunct Matson Navigation Co. in 1956. Acquired by Star Lauro / MSC in 1990 following the collapse of former operator Aloha Pacific Cruises, the Monterey offers a traditional European cruise experience.
Sorry, no Monterey Cruise Reviews, yet.
Excerpts from MSC's Website The Monterey offers perhaps the most interesting ports of call with a wide variety of destinations both in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. You will be immediately attracted by the comfortable size of this 20,000 ton ship which takes only 550 passengers. The crew treats you like one of the family and not just like another face in the crowd. The large staterooms, sprawling teak decks, and the wonderful Italian staff on board the Monterey will make this a trip to remember. It was also called by a reviewer in Cruise Vacations News "an excellent value for the price," and one of the waiters was perhaps the best Bill Miller had seen in his many years of travel. Most passengers are simply elated by their experience on this lovely ship. Ask a Question About MSC, Mediterranean Shipping Cruises
