Review:
We decided to go on a cruise for our honeymoon. We opted for the stay and cruise
option. We had our first week in Alcudia where we enjoyed a typical " on the
beach" holiday. Our second week was onboard the Island Escape. My first
impression was wow. The sheer enormity of the ship was very impressive. The
checking in situation was well handled. An envelope was handed to us which
contained all our luggage tags and swipe cards for use on the ship. There was no
handling of bags or suitcases, all these were dropped to our cabin in record
time. Our only disappointment was on not reaching Malta. Unfortunately we
encountered engine trouble, which meant two days at sea. Our Captain John
MacNeil made it up to us by offering a free bar for an hour and by sailing by
the active volcano Stromboli. This was just fabulous. We enjoyed all our
excursions on shore and would highly recommend that you make use of these.
Florence is definitely not to be missed. Unfortunately one day in some places is
just not enough. The restaurants on board are all extremely good, we never could
fault any of the food. The cabin service is also very good. Our cabin was
cleaned twice a day, and more if we wanted it.
We really enjoyed our honeymoon on board the Island Escape and hope to go back.
