Infinity Cruise Review

Janice King

Age: 55
Occupation: HR Manager
Number of Cruises: 9
Cruise Line: Celebrity
Ship: Infinity
Sailing Date: July 4th, 2004
Itinerary: Alaska

This was our first Celebrity cruise and I have to say the ship was beautiful and the itinerary fantastic. Our room was at the stern and we had a balcony that measured about 20x14 which is large by any standard. Plus, our ship only held around 1,900 people as opposed to other ships the same size that held 2,500+. This makes for a lot of "elbow room".

I do have to agree with Mr. Moore (previous posting) that the food was only so-so; not bad, but not spectacular. We did eat one night in the specialty restaurant, SS America, and had a very enjoyable meal.

I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was about this trip that didn't make it "extraordinary" until the last day. Another passenger and I were discussing the trip (she and her husband have been on about 20+ cruises) and she, too, didn't enjoy this cruise as much as others. We finally decided our problem hinged on the fact that while the entire crew was very professional, they were almost impersonal. In addition, the officers were a bit "stand-offish", to say the least. Our other cruises always left us with good memories of the crew/staff but this one certainly didn't (the only notable exception was our room steward).

Would I take another Celebrity cruise? Probably -- after all, I do believe in second chances.
