It took me a while, but I wanted to write a quick review on this Jewel of a
ship.
Our embarkation went ok. We did not have documents so we had to pick them up and
the counter when we got there. The only problem was that it took a long time
because there was a large group of non English speaking guests from South
America, and the only person at the counter did not speak Spanish. That was OK
though. These folks were very friendly and while I was not much a help with what
little Spanish I speak I got to talk with some of them. Nice folks.
Once on board, I can tell you that the ship was just super. Our ocean view cabin
was large, nice picture window, and very clean. Waling around the ship I could
se people cleaning the ship every time I turned around. The show lounge was
great. The dining room on this ship is a treat in itself. Beautifully!!! The
dining room staff was great. The only exception was the assistant head waiter. I
can overlook this as it was a minor problem with charges for a bottle of wine.
I would say the one negative that sticks out in my mind on this ship is the hot
tubs. NO SHADE!!! Royal bummer. They ned to put a something over it for shade as
they have on most other ships in in the Premium market.
Only one other real problem was that there were over 200 people on board from
Europe. Mostly France and Germany. These people are something else and put a
negative feeling in a lot of people. They would walk up to a closed buffet and
start eating...I mean they would tear down the curtin and go for it. They would
also walk right up to someone and take their ash tray right off the table and
walk off with it. When we had the Photos taken, these people would walk right in
front of the camera or behind you on the stairs and stand there. One couple
walked up and took my trey and hat and glasses off my table and sit down while I
went to get some juice in the buffet.
I can not blame this on Celebrity, but it was a major bummer to be on the ship
with these people. It was not just us..seems like everyone had something to say
about them. As for the large group from South America, they were nice and very
polite.
All in all the cruise was super. We did have a great time even with our friends
from Europe, but we just over looked them as it was not Celebrities fault. They
tried to keep them from cutting in line and eating in closed buffets but were
not successful at all. I think the Crew had seen enough after seven days too!!
SO. here is my advise.....Get yourself down to Ft. Lauderdale, hop onboard the
Century, and set sale for one spectacular week!!!
