Century Cruise Review

Age: 45
Occupation: teacher
Number of Cruises: 6
Cruise Line: Celebrity
Ship: Century
Sailing Date: August 25th, 2001
Itinerary: Eastern Caribbean

EMBARKATION - easy, if you arrive before all the crowds, say 11:30a.m.

ROOM - decent size, lots of closet and drawer space; kept very clean; bathroom great, shower pressure great, loved the shampoo dispenser built right onto the shower wall, no cold water from sink.

FOOD - fair, boring side dishes, bland tasting.

BUFFETS - not worth waiting up for.

ENTERTAINMENT - short shows, but very enjoyable and quite professional, better than Carnival line.

SHIPBOARD ACTIVITIES - boring and uncreative, many activities try to get you to purchase something, like a facial, or hair care products; the spa really tries to "push" their services at all their talks.

SHIP APPEARANCE - spotlessly clean, staff always cleaning, shining and vaccuming.

CRUISE DIRECTOR - very pleasant man, but not entertaining at all; spent limited time on stage unlike the cruise director aboard the Carnival's Sensation who was better entertainment than the shows themselves.

PORTS - quite standard in time limits, too many ports, not enough time.  St. Thomas was okay timewise, but Puerto Rico was a waste, and time in Nassau (by the time you get off the ship) was only 4 hours, barely enough to do either 1 short beach activity or shopping, but certainly not both.

STAFF and CREW - very helpful, always polite, and quite efficient. Waiters and cabin steward were top-notch.

GENERAL COMMENTS - good, low-key type of cruise, great for relaxing; if looking for wild fun, go elsewhere.  Free drinks such as iced tea, juice, lemonade or punch not always available; certain times of day you had to purchase a beverage unless you wanted water, hot tea, or coffee. I found this particularly annoying since I had kids that wanted drinks in the hot afternoon.

EXCURSIONS - Snorkeling at Pinel Island in St. Martin was a waste of money; snorkeling with stingrays in Nassau was great.
